I thought I would show you kind of what Mr. Bob’s camp at Mountain Heritage Day would be like. This is the cover of his book (see how we have the same last name!) This is part of an illustration by Mr. David Wright and Mr. Earl has the original at his house. If you come to the Plott hound exhibit at the Mountain Heritage Center this October you’ll get to see the original painting. Also, notice the dogs, the one on the left looks kinda like my mom don’t you think? The hunters needed good dogs on the frontier because we were really helpful in hunting the game and also to warn them if there was danger nearby. When the hunters returned home to their farms, we were very useful in herding their animals and protecting them from predators and people stealing their livestock. This is why Plott hounds have been called a “multipurpose” dog.

Nannie,
You need to tell them about how you went swimming today. Plott dogs are also pretty good in the water too!
Hi, Nannie! Yes, I do think the dog on the left looks like your mom! Your mom and dad are a very beautiful couple by the way! I know where you get your beautiful looks now!
I really like the front cover of the book! I can’t wait to see the original painting, because the illustration is really awesome.
The Hunter’s Camp at Mountain Heritage Day will be so interesting to see. I wanted to be sure about Mountain Heritage Day….isn’t it September 26th and held on the campus of Western Carolina University? Will you be there, Nannie?
I really like hearing about all the cool things Plotts can do! Thanks for sharing. Ms. Sona
Hey Miss Sona, it’s good to hear from you again and thanks for the nice things you said about my mom and dad. You’ve got the dates right for Mountain Heritage Day at Western Carolina University. I’ll be there with Mr. Bob for a while in the morning. I think I might have a hard time staying away from all those nice hides to chew on. I’ll see you soon.

Mr. Bob Plott came by my house today to see David and I got to meet him. He is a really nice man and a good writer, Plott owner and bear and boar hunter.I kept jumping up on him and David was more upset than Mr. Bob was. It was really cool to meet a Plott on two legs. I want to meet his dogs one day. We saw some pictures of them and they are really good looking dogs. They are what are known as Crockett Plott hounds and this is a type of Plott hound bred by Mr. Taylor Crockett over near Franklin, NC. I’ll show you some pictures of Crockett Plotts later on and you’ll get to meet Rev. John Jackson who lives near Boone, NC and he knew Mr. Crockett really well.
