A Blogging Hound

Let me introduce myself– My name is Nannie–  Nannie Plott to be exact and I’m a Plott hound. I’m about 9 weeks old right now and I live in Cullowhee with my people, Jeannette and David. I also have a big brother named Ernie and we play all the time. You’ll get to meet a lot of people and dogs as we keep on talking in this blog. If you have questions that you want to ask me I hope you will and I’ll try and answer them.

Plott hounds are the state dog of North Carolina and I’m really proud of my family. We came to this country in 1750 from Germany with our person, Johannes Plott. In 1800 we arrived in Haywood County with Henry Plott and we became one of the most valuable hunting dogs in the mountains and later, all over the world.

I’ll be telling you lots of stories about the adventures of my relatives and their people but I think Ernie may be taking my chew toy and I’ve got to get it back from him. He likes to tease me with it but we have a real good time playing together.

Okay, Nannie, I’m on board. My jack russell, Jack will be participating in this conversation, too. Right now, he is asleep. He is a little put out because I forgot that he was in the chicken lot and locked him in.
He has been there all morning, barking. I thought he was the neighbor’s dog.

Thank you Mr. Gary. We have chickens too but I’m kinda scared of Nick the rooster. I’ll be talking about our chickens next week.

Nannie…So very nice to meet you and read about your adventures. I too am a Plott and my people let me live with my three best friends in the world, Billy Plott, Butch Plott and Doc Plott. Doc can be a little grouchy cause he is older than the rest of us, he is 3, and the rest of us are only a year old. We live in North Georgia and love to run in the mountains and chase bears and wild hogs. We also love to go to the lake, Lake Lanier, and swim and cool of during the hot summer months. Look forward to meeting you at the mountain center!!!!

Wow! This is really exciting! I haven’t gotten to meet some other Plotts yet other than my brothers and sisters. I have a brother Radar and he’s going to be a great hunting dog and we’ll be showing some pictures of him soon. He still lives in Waynesville. Please come visit me sometime.

Hi there Flufi! David has told me about you and I can’t wait to play with you. You can come play with me and Ernie. He steals my chewy toys all the time. Snappy sounds like she would be fun to play with too. Rambo sounds kinda scary though. Tell your mommy and daddy hello for me.
